We're living in a time like no other.
I grew up as a child of the "human potentials movement" in the 1960's and '70's. It was a time when our DNA was infused with an optimism about ourselves, our communities, and our planet. We learned to open our mind, heart, and will to embrace what only generations ago might be considered impossible. We were raised without fear of the impossible, trusting an ageless wisdom deep within us that had somehow been forgotten by the generations before us.
My job in life these days is to help people, teams, organizations, and communities realize more of their potential. It's a role that is complex but not mysterious, non-traditional and uniquely impactful.
While everyone is busy doing things or managing other people busy doing things, I help everyone discover more of what they're capable of doing. This happens through coaching, workshops, and facilitation. My job is to help people see possibilities they haven't seen before.
The craft of what I do involves deep listening and observing, asking new questions no one's asked before. It involves giving people new distinctions and practices that help them realize more of their personal and connected intelligence. It's creating possibility spaces that allow people to get beyond fear and cynicism.
The joy I get in and from my work is the joy of seeing people discover more of their potential. When this happens, people measure their success less by how busy they are and more on how much of a difference they make in their world. People become more engaged in their communities and networks outside of work. It's work whose source is an intention to create a sustainable planet.
