(Engage People With Expert Facilitation)
Every day, successful leaders engage expert facilitators to help people get on the same page. Facilitators bring expertise in the design and facilitation of the process.
- Thanks Jack for your inspired leadership in our recent board mission retreat. We are thrilled with the outcome and look forward to working with you more! / Scott Sanders / Director, Earth Day Coalition
Facilitation is required when the goal is to:
- Bring out people's best ideas
- Connect people's knowledge & resources in new ways
- Create consensus in an environment of trust
- Align people in a common direction
- Engage people in new opportunities for collaboration
- Build the conditions for follow-through, accountability, and success
Facilitation works best when the organization approaches the process with a few key premises:
- People do best when they take responsibility for their performance and improvement
- People have the essential strengths for improvement
- New levels of performance depend on new ways of using existing strengths
- Improvement = improvisation + feedback
Facilitators bring a unique set of skills in designing and engaging small and large group work for optimum results. The facilitator advantage is that they are skilled and experienced in the areas of organization development, creativity, complex group process, change management, trust building, teamwork, performance psychology, communication, consensus building, goal deployment, and project management.
Facilitators work from 4 core principles:
- People move faster when they move together
- People tend to be smarter together
- People tend to support most what they help create
- The quality of a group's outcomes depends on the quality of its process
